about apacheplazas.com

Apache Plaza, located in St. Anthony, Minnesota, was a former shopping center that opened in 1961 and was one of the first enclosed shopping malls in the United States. The mall was designed by architect Willard Thorsen and was considered state-of-the-art for its time. Its notable features included a spacious central court with a roof made up of 10 concrete shells in the shape of an inverted umbrella and Mondrian-inspired clerestory windows. Apache Plaza was only the second enclosed mall in the state of Minnesota after Southdale, and it closed in 2004.
